Hotblack Desiato guitar effect pedal viewed from the front face. It's black with hand-painted
        image of an exploding sun. There are six knobs, two toggle switches, two footswitches, a red LED
        and a yellow LED. The knobs are marked 'G', 'G', 'Tone', 'Echo', 'Time' and 'V'. The toggles are
        marked 'D <--> E' and 'L/M'.
Top Row: Gain 1, Gain 2, Tone. Second Row: Big Volume, Echo (delay mix), Time (delay length). Third Row: Order Switcher (Drive > Echo or Echo > Drive), Latching/Momentary (changes how the second footswitch turns on/off). Footswitches control bypass and feedback.

Hotblack Desiato, named after the front man of the fictional band, Disaster Area, is a guitar effects pedal built around two popular drop-in modules: a pair of LM386 amplifier boards, and a PT2399 karaoke echo board.

The circuitry is designed so that you can place the amplifiers before the echo, as is traditionally done, or after the echo for shoegaze-style, total chaos effects. Feedback is controlled by a second footswitch that can be set to either momentary or latching mode. There are several sweet spots to be found on the dials, whether you're after lightly distorted, spacey echo, or full-on, fuzzed, self-oscillating feedback madness.
